Career
Brion Johnson, Deputy Executive Director for Project Management, a native of Wellsboro, Tioga County, has been with PENNVEST since June 1988. After graduation Brion worked in the Atomic Power division at Newport News Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Company in Hampton Roads, Virginia from 1982 to 1988. Brion started working as a Project Specialist at PENNVEST soon after the program began. Since the program had not yet been fully staffed, he covered meetings with communities around the Commonwealth, and implemented early outreach activities. Mr. Johnson then focused on projects in the north central and northwestern part of the Commonwealth comprising the 26 county areas identified as PENNVEST Region I. As Deputy Executive Director for Project Management Brion coordinates the efforts of the four PENNVEST regions in the identification, evaluation and recommendation of PENNVEST funding candidates and the nutrient credit program. Project Management provides informational seminars to potential applicants, advice on project packaging, financing alternatives, application review and coordination with the Department of Environmental Protection and the Department of Economic and Community Development, as well as other governmental agencies and lenders. This section also develops the recommendations of project specific financial packages. Brion coordinates with the program staff in resolving issues that arise during construction related to payment, at loan closing, , and at final closeout. Brion and his staff work to resolves any ongoing covenants that may relate to the borrower throughout the loan process.
